DAY 24

Well, we’re nearly there –twas the night before Christmas….

This is a prayer by Garth Hewitt which dropped into my inbox yesterday.

Oh God, these are difficult times -
we pray for a renewed vision of
your humble way,
your way of justice and hope for
all;
We pray that we might have a deep
vision
of the Prince of Peace.

May our churches become centres
that not only have a dream of
justice for all
but live out the values of this
dream
in the communities in which we
live.

Give us renewed joy this Christmas
and then a renewed commitment
to action;
to have an encounter with the God
whose name is mercy,
the God who is humble and generous.

In the name of God,
the Creator, Redeemer and Giver of
Life. Amen

Let’s commit to action in our communities as we celebrate this Christmas.
We’re only hours away now from gathering together to celebrate the foundation of our hope.
To renew our joy and commit to action through an encounter with God’s mercy, humility and generosity.
I pray that our celebration will bear fruit, and our hope will go out into our neighbourhoods with us, ‘trailing wisps of glory’ like a forgotten decoration still trailing from us on boxing day.
